Sunset Tanning

Fake tan, make-up and you

After you've had any form of fake tan applied to your skin you then have an important obstacle you need to overcome, and that is your post tan make-up. Your skin is bound to be a few shades darker than usual following your tan and there is nothing worse than seeing a beautifully bronzed body with a face that is noticeably lighter in colour. You need to ensure that following your tan you match your foundation to the rest of you. For some this could mean completely changing the colour or your regular foundation and powder, but for others there is a little trick that can help you to achieve the optimum face shade without splurging on new make-up products.

Applying a touch of instant tan with your regular shade of foundation will darken it slightly. Use the back of your hand as a mixing palette and squeeze on a small amount of tan and make-up and blend it together with your foundation brush before applying it to the face. This touch of tan should help you achieve the right base colour for your face. This  is particularly essential after spray on tan applications, as the whole of your body is sprayed with the same colour so you need to keep your face looking as natural as the rest of you.

With the use of sunless tanning products on the face, you give yourself the option of trying out different lip and eye colours. Pale skin can not always look right with bold eye colours in the same way that darker and tanned skin tones can so the post fake tan process is the perfect time for you to have a play. Various shades of purple, green and blue can completely change the look of your face, giving you an image overhaul that you can pull off after a fake tan. Lighter eye shadow colours that look great on pale skin can sometimes be too light for dark skin, giving the eyelid a frosty white appearance, so sometimes it is better to steer clear of them. If you want a more natural colour to accentuaute your eyes from your newly tanned face, opt for a variation of brown, gold and bronze shades.

Your lips can also have a makeover post tan, and you can wear virtually any colour. Bright pinks and reds look great with a tan but you can also apply nude shades for a more natural look. Then all you need to do is bronze your cheekbones! Make sure that if you keep your original shade of blush or bronzer that the shade compliments your tan, you don't want your cheek colour to be lighter than the rest of your face. Also bronze tones often look better with tanned skin.

Once you're fake tanned and made up to perfection, you are ready to hit the road!
